SALEM [OR.] PREPARES FOR NIGHT OF FIRE BENEFIT

The Night of Fire Benefit Car Show kicks off the Labor Day Weekend on Friday, September 3 in Salem, Oregon. The annual event promises to be
the biggest ever and is the circus of all car shows and always for a worthy cause. This year, the show benefits the National Guard’s Emergency Relief Fund which distributes money, goods and services to Oregon families with a spouse that is serving overseas and needs help with groceries, rent, or emergency repairs.

Headlining the show is  Ed ‘the Outlaw” Jones, one of the best known showmen in racing. Jones is coming all the way from Canada to do a
spectacular  fire show with his stagecoach wheeelstander which shoots out 20 foot flames after dark!

In addition to Jones, race fans will experience the only Top Fuel Dragster to be fired up in the state of Oregon this year as Dean Alexander will be bringing his Top Fuel dragster down from Spokane. Also added is the brand new “High Bucks” funny car driven by Russ Parker. They will join the Capitol Auto Group race team in one of the biggest gatherings of race cars found any where away from the dragstrip. On top of the exhibiton vehicles there will be over one hundred of the best muscle cars, street rods and hot rods from around the state.

Also featured this year is “Hot Saw” Bill Pellham from the popular History Channel show “The Ax Men”. Bill will be on hand with his V-8 engine, two-man chain saw and will saw logs in seconds! Also included is a car bash and engine blow contest.

New this year is a go cart track, a climbing wall, a bouncing attraction, an inflatable and face painting for the kids. Plus, there will be raffles, a silent auction, vender booths and concessions provided by Adam’s Rib Smokehouse.

The Night of Fire takes place in the Salem Evangelical Event Center parking lot across from Applebee’s on Liberty Street near the Salem Parkway, between Pine Street and the Fred Meyer Store. Gates open at 2PM and admission is free! Go to www.capracing.com for details
