DSR'S RILEY HOSPITAL FUNDRAISER PROVES SUCCESSFUL AGAIN

The second annual Bowling for Riley charity event hosted by Don Schumacher Racing and local Indianapolis-area NAPA distribution center was another success. NHRA drivers, sponsors and fans, along with six Firestone Indy Lights series drivers, spent the evening of May 25, 2010, at Brownsburg (Ind.) Bowl in support of Indiana's only comprehensive hospital dedicated exclusively to the care of children, Riley Hospital for Children.

The second annual charity bowling event generated $12,612 during the four-hour event. The proceeds were raised from lane sponsorships, entry fees, silent auction, a 50/50 raffle drawing and other donations. All 28 lanes at Brownsburg Bowl were sold out for the event.

"DSR has a long history of supporting Riley Hospital for Children but last week's bowling tournament was far more than a DSR event," DSR Sr. Vice President Mike Lewis said. "We were excited to watch a sellout crowd of bowlers joined by drivers from a number of NHRA teams and six Indy Lights racers. The energy inside Brownsburg Bowl was amazing and we can't wait to do it again in 2011. We really appreciate the support of the drivers, the sponsors and the fans."

DSR drivers Antron Brown, Cory McClenathan, Jack Beckman and Craig Treble were joined by NHRA stars Larry Dixon, Morgan Lucas, Shawn Langdon, Andrew Hines, Eddie Krawiec, Mike Neff, Tommy Johnson, Jr., and ESPN personality Paul Page. The Firestone Indy Lights series drivers that attended the event included James Hinchcliffe, Martin Plowman, Stefan Wilson, Gustavo Yacaman and Pippa Mann.

The competitors included 22 teams of four bowlers plus 13 drivers. Drivers bowled with two teams on adjoining lanes and rotated to new lanes for each game, giving fans an opportunity to bowl with three different NHRA stars. The "celebrity" scores were added to those of both "fan" teams. Many NHRA crew chiefs and crew members also participated, adding to the racing aura of the event.

"Riley Hospital is extremely grateful to Don Schumacher Racing for their continuous leadership and generosity," said Greg Williamson, assistant vice president for Riley Children's Foundation. "Every year children from all 92 Indiana counties come to Riley Hospital and to more than 20 regional clinics throughout the state more than 250,000 times. Providing the highest level of care to these children is Riley's first priority. The support from Don Schumacher Racing helps make this possible."

DSR has now raised more than $90,000 for Riley Hospital for Children the past four years during its annual U.S. Nationals Open House and charity bowling event. The 2010 DSR U.S. Nationals Open House is set for Friday, Sept. 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Event details will be posted on www.shoeracing.com in the coming months.
