NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY CONVERTING TO COMPULINK FIBER OPTIC TIMING SYSTEM

New England Dragway, home of the Amalie Oil North American Nationals, is updating its Compulink Timing System to the company’s new, cutting-edge fiber optic set-up. The fiber optic configuration will replace the old copper wiring that has been used in timing systems for decades.

“This is really important for any national event track facility,” said Joe Lombardo of New England Dragway, IHRA’s 2006 Track Operator of the Year. “We all have an obligation to upgrade and be sure national event technology is the same for all competitors. In addition, our regular racers will benefit by having a more reliable system every weekend that’s easier to maintain and less likely to suffer problems from lightning.”

The fiber optic wiring is the latest technology in timing systems. It is much easier to maintain, eliminates problems with lightning, and offers increased speed and reliability.

“New England Dragway is the first IHRA national event track to make the switch to this new technology,” said IHRA vice president of racing operations Skooter Peaco. “We applaud them for their efforts and want to recognize them for being one of the trailblazing tracks, leading the way in timing system technology.”
