NHRA HERITAGE SERIES COMING TO LVMS

NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series star Gary Densham will lead a stellar parade of 21 nitromethane-burning nostalgia Funny Cars to the May 28-30 NHRA Heritage Series/Rockabilly Rod Reunion at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Set to go head-to-head with Densham will be Leah “Heartbreaker” LeDuc of Redlands, Calif. LeDuc will be driving Steve Plueger’s “Plueger & Gyger” Mustang. She is the first female driver to win the famed March Meet in Bakersfield (2010) and also is the current Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car speed record holder at 255.78 mph.

The entry list of 21 cars will compete on both days (Saturday and Sunday) vying for a coveted berth in the tight eight-car field.

The Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars will qualify at noon and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car eliminations are slated for 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars that failed to make the eight-car field will make exhibition runs on Sunday.

The Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars will be joined by: A-Fuel, Jr. Fuel, AA/Gas Supercharged, 7.0 Pro, Nostalgia Eliminator 1, Nostalgia Eliminator 2, Nostalgia Eliminator 3, A Gas, B Gas, C Gas, D Gas and Hot Rod.

The Rockabilly Rod Reunion (www.RockabillyRodReunion.com) features Bo Huff's Ultimate Garage Party & Car Show, 18 bands on two stages, pin-up superstar Sabina Kelly, Jason Beam's pinstriper showdown, a tattoo showcase, the Miss Rockabilly Rod Reunion contest, the Ms. Swimsuit Superstarlet contest and the ultimate burn-out contest.

Friday, May 28
9 a.m. – Credentials sales, pit parking for all drag racing participants.
Noon – Tech inspection.
2 p.m. – Nostalgia Sportsman Test ‘n’ Tune ($60 per car, two-run punch card).
6 p.m. – Funny Car Test ‘n’ Tune ($60 per car, two-run punch card).
6 p.m. – Rockabilly concert begins on Neon Garage stage (superspeedway infield).
8 p.m. – Credential sales closed, tech closed, Sportsman testing concludes.
8 p.m. – Second Funny Car Test ‘n’ Tune session.
9 p.m. – Track closed.

Saturday, May 29
6 a.m. – Pit gates open.
8 a.m. – Tech inspection.
9 a.m. – Time trials, qualifying (three runs will be attempted).
Noon – First Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car qualifying session.
4 p.m. – Second Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car qualifying session.
6 p.m. – Conclude drag racing, rockabilly concert begins on Neon Garage stage.

Sunday, May 30
6 a.m. – Pit gates open.
8 a.m. – RFC chapel service.
9 a.m. – Sportsman eliminations.
11 a.m. – National anthem.
11:05 a.m. – First round of Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car eliminations (8 cars).
1:30 p.m. – Second round of Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car eliminations (4 cars); exhibition runs for non-qualified Funny Cars.

3:45 p.m. – All Sportsman finals.
4 p.m. – Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car final (2 cars); exhibition runs.
4:30 p.m. – Drag strip closed.
