Don Roberts, who drove for the team at times, said, "Don was my friend, one of best critics on race car drivers, and one of the best people I ever raced with. He was old school, and he wanted it done his way. There was a reason he wanted it done his way; it's because he did it the right way. I was so fortunate to be part of the King & Marshall team, where Don showed me the right way to race, and I'd get a blast from him when I didn't do it right."

A service will be held at Corey Kerlin Funeral home in Jacksonville Saturday. The viewing will be at 11 a.m., and the service will begin at noon under the direction of Rev. Ray Turner.
