Alan Ellis and Tony Jardino led the way to winner’s circle at the NHRA JEGS Pacific Sportsnationals at Auto Club Dragway and the second of three JEGS Sportsnationals on the 2010 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

Ellis, Mapleton, Utah, drove his ’08 roadster to the win in Comp Eliminator as he chased down Randy Jones of Monarch Beach, Calif., with a pass of 6.566 seconds at 207.78 mph.

Jardino of San Dimas, Calif., has been on a hot streak this year with this his second win in three final rounds in Top Dragster.  He won today over Matt Hartzell, Modesto, Calif., to go along with a win at SIR Dragway in Tucson, Ariz., and a runner up finish here on Friday for the rescheduled Arizona Nationals.  Jardino clocked in at 6.871 seconds at 196.87 mph to Hartzell’s 7.426, 174.26.

Local favorite Ryan McClanahan, Alta Loma, Calif., picked up his third national event win of his career when he outran the current Super Stock National Champion Jimmy DeFrank.  McClanahan’s ’08 Cobalt covered the quarter mile in 8.523 seconds at 162.98 mph to DeFrank’s 8.880, 153.16.

In Super Street it was Nik Downing taking out the defending Pacific division champion Matt Blodgett with a lap of 10.896 seconds in a car owned by his Grandfather.  Ironically, he beat his grandfather in his quarterfinal match up on his way to the final.

Kevin Kleineweber, Phoenix, put his Hughes Performance Top Sportsman ’94 Lumina in the winner’s circle with a run of 7.955 seconds, 154.56 mph over Dave Zewe, Hesperia, Calif., and John Schloe of Garden Grove, Calif., won in Stock Eliminator against Chad Langdon, La Mirada, Calif.,  Schloe went 10.830 seconds, 121.70 mph in his ’69 Firebird to Langdon’s 11.607, 110.93 mph.

Rounding out the winner’s were Andrew Madrid, Chatsworth, Calif., in Super Comp over Gabriel Torres, La Puente, Calif.; Dana Keniry, Hawthorne, Calif., def. Roger Kato, North Las Vegas, Nev., in Super Gas; and Aaron Pine La Mirada, Calif., took the win in Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley Davidson over Boulder City, Nev., racer Sean Conner.

NHRA Pacific Division racers head to Top Gun Raceway in Fallon, Nev., for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, June 11-13.
