TROXEL TO RUN IN-N-OUT BURGER FLOPPER IN COMMERCE

The In-N-Out Burger Dodge Charger Funny Car is getting a command performance at Atlanta Dragway next week.

Roger Burgess, owner of R2B2 Racing, is entering the In-N-Out Funny Car into the 30th annual Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals, May 14-16, partially as a reward for the progress the team has made thus far and also as a birthday present for In-N-Out Burger chief Lynsi Martinez.

The In-N-Out Burger Funny Car is scheduled to run in eight races this season in the states where In-N-Out Burger has restaurant locations but Burgess said the timing of the Atlanta event was too good to pass up.

The In-N-Out Burger Funny Car is scheduled to run in eight races this season in the states where In-N-Out Burger has restaurant locations but Burgess said the timing of the Atlanta event was too good to pass up.

"This is our home race and In-N-Out Burger and Lynsi have been such great partners with us," Burgess said. "We wanted to do something special for them. It was something I was thinking about doing and when I found out it was Lynsi's birthday that sealed it for me."

The Funny Car, driven by megastar Melanie Troxel, had to sit out last week's event in St. Louis because the team hasn't yet filled all the vacant sponsorship spots. Troxel, who will also be racing the In-N-Out Burger '63 Corvette Pro Mod in Atlanta, can't wait to wheel the Funny Car back out on the track for this bonus race.

"Lance (Larsen, crew chief) and the rest of the team have made such good progress this year with the car," Troxel said. "We've gotten better every race, and sitting out in St. Louis was tough on the team. I'm so happy we can get the car back out there and keep the momentum we've built rolling.

"Celebrating Lynsi's birthday is a fun deal. She's a drag racer at heart and I know she'll get a real kick out of this."

Before it rolls on the track, the In-N-Out Burger Dodge Charger Funny Car will be on display a Coca-Cola's world headquarters during the afternoon of May 13.
