UPDATE: 4:15 PM, EST. - Nearly 30 minutes from a re-start, the skies opened up and rain began to fall. There's no word on the schedule.

3:40 PM,  - Race officials estimate competition could resume within an hour, and will open with the final round of the nitrous divisions, followed by Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle.

2:25 PM - Faced with a not-so-promising weather forecast, NHRA officials managed to get in at least two rounds of professional eliminations before rain suspended the action.

In Top Fuel, the four finalists are Cory McClenathan, Doug Kalitta, Antron Brown and Doug Herbert.

In Funny Car, the finalists include John Force, Ashley Force Hood, Ron Capps and Matt Hagan.

Pro Stock was next in line to run when the rains began to fall.

Track drying is already underway.
