MONTECALVO COMMITTED TO FULL ADRL TOUR

DSA_3236In 2009, John Montecalvo topped some of Pro Stock’s best drivers to become the IHRA Pro Stock World Champion. He did this all while maintaining a spot in the ADRL’s Battle of Belts, which means he ranked in the top 8 in points going into the final race of the year. This year, Montecalvo is looking to strengthen his ADRL presence and pursue his goal of eighth mile dominance in 2010.

The ADRL has a lure all its own for competitive drivers who want to make a stand in the “run what you brung” atmosphere where no holds are barred. Montecalvo was able to make an impressive statement in the inaugural season of Extreme Pro Stock (2009), despite having to miss a few races on the tour. This year, the ADRL will see more of Montecalvo, and, if it’s up to him, it’ll be in the winner’s circle.

“We’re excited to get the ADRL season underway,” told Monte. “We’re looking forward to racing in front of the ADRL’s huge number of fans in Houston. This will be our first time competing at Houston Raceway Park, although we’ve tested there before. They have a top-notch facility, and do a great job with it. We’re excited to compete there.

“Sonny [of Sonny’s Racing Engines] found more power for us this year. We tested at Valdosta and put down some good numbers. Now we go to Houston and see how everybody stacks up after the off-season updates have been made.

“We’re really looking forward to racing the ADRL this year. We had a great year with them last year, winning our first Minute Man, and we’re optimistic for the 2010 season. Our goal is nothing less than the Championship.”

Although the 2010 season officially began with the final event in October 2009, the 2010 opener is March 19-20 at Houston Raceway Park. Montecalvo and team will began pursuit of the 2010 Extreme Pro Stock Championship.
