JANIS TO RUN A MUSTANG IN 2010

Two-time Pro Modified champion Mike Janis plans to “Drive One” in 2010.

Janis, of Lancaster, NY, confirmed his intentions to debut a 2010 Ford Mustang as early as the NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis, April 30 – May 2. This will be his first experience racing a Pro Modified Ford.

“It wasn’t supposed to be a big secret, but we’ve been so busy working that we haven’t even had time to do a proper press release,” said Janis, who plans to run the full ten-race NHRA GSA Pro Modified tour.

Ford will provide Janis with limited sponsorship for this new venture. Eaton will remain as the primary sponsor on the team.

“They’ve given us their blessings on it,” he said. “When I saw the new Mustangs, I knew I wanted to get one.”

Janis has alluded to a strong likelihood the Mustang could run a Ford Pro Mod engine in the future.

“It’s very possible,” Janis confirmed. “It would have to be something down the road for us … nothing right away. I would say its prominently on our radar for now.”

Dan Page Race Cars is building the new Mustang.

Janis is the second winningest driver in the now defunct IHRA Pro Modified division with 19 victories in 27 final rounds. He has two wins in two final rounds while racing ADRL competition.
