2010 CHAMPIONSHIP PREDICTIONS

02_10_2009_predictionsEvery season, since 2000, Attitude’s CompetitionPlus.com has attempted to predict the champions in each professional division. While we’re not going to quit our day jobs to become psychics or anything, we do try to use logic in predicted those who we feel will be the champions for the upcoming season.

Last year we fell short of our mark in every category but a good break here and a good break there, and we could be bragging right now.

AND NOW OUR PREDICTIONS FOR 2010

TOP FUEL – TONY SCHUMACHER

dsa_3527_20100112_1428535526

The Army of One proved their skeptics wrong and based on pre-season test results we don’t see Tony Schumacher giving up the title. Based on his performance at the Palm Beach International Raceway test session, Schumacher and his team are just getting their groove. So his runs were in testing, you say? A 3.75 is a 3.75 … and that’s just bad to the bone.

Besides, don’t bet against Schumacher in the clutch, and trust us, this one is going down to the wire again.

2. Larry Dixon *
3. Cory McClenathan
4. Antron Brown
5. Shawn Langdon
6. Morgan Lucas
7. Brandon Bernstein
8. Doug Kalitta
9. David Grubnic
10. Terry McMillen

FUNNY CAR – ASHLEY FORCE-HOOD

124_20100124_1513307512

Last season we believe Ashley Force Hood assumed the role of team player at John Force Racing, and the end result of her team’s actions were four team cars in the Countdown to 1. This year we believe there will be nothing to slow Mrs. Force-Hood down, except for Del Worsham. He’s gonna battle her tooth-and-nail for this title. And, if she slips up just once, Worsham will be there.

Plus the one weapon Worsham has in his corner is Dickie Venables, and we remember her record against Tony Pedregon when Venables was calling the shots.

2. Del Worsham*
3. Robert Hight
4. Ron Capps
5. Bob Tasca III
6. Jack Beckman
7. Tim Wilkerson
8. John Force
9. Matt Hagan
10. Tony Pedregon

PRO STOCK – MIKE EDWARDS

dsb_3453_20100205_1219613642

Mike Edwards beat the field into submission last season, and dominated largely on qualifying bonus points more than round wins. The Pro Stock field hasn’t forgotten that beat-down they received and when Edwards says they are all tough, they’ll prove it each and every weekend. We don’t see Edwards falling off the pace, but we do see the field catching up.

Edwards wins another championship, this one by a whisker …

2. Jason Line
3. Jeg Coughlin Jr.*
4. Allen Johnson
5. Greg Anderson
6. Ron Krisher
7. Rodger Brogdon
8. Rickie Jones
9. Kurt Johnson
10. Justin Humphreys

PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE – MATT SMITH*

Al-AnabiBike_Matt_sm

We didn’t see Hector Arana coming last year, but we’ll see this year’s champion storming ahead from a mile away [not that he’ll ever be behind]. When Matt Smith has the proper backing, and is aboard his Buell, he’s nearly unbeatable. Considering he’s going to have a hand in four different bike tune-ups this season and has the research and development power plant up and running again.

Smith by a landslide …

2. Andrew Hines
3. Hector Arana
4. Eddie Krawiec
5. Douglas Horne
6. Angie Smith
7. Michael Philips
8. Karen Stoffer
9. Steve Johnson
10. Craig Treble

PRO MODIFIED – VON SMITH

VSmith_launch715

Von Smith plans to run on the NHRA’s GSA Pro Mod tour in 2010, and if you’ve been paying attention to the competition over in Qatar, the former multi-time IHRA TAFC champion and his talented tuner Howard Moon established the quickest eighth-mile speed in the history of doorslammer racing at 209.43 miles per hour.

Add close to 41 miles per hour for the back-half, and you’ll gain an inkling of what Smith and Moon plan to bring to the first year of official NHRA Pro Mod racing.

Better watch out for Personnet’s turbo car …

2. Brad Personett

4. Jay Payne
5. Burton Auxier
5. Danny Rowe
6. Ray Commisso
7. Ed Hoover
