Glidden scored an 83.22 vote percentage with his story of one-upmanship with legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight and that was more than enough to get around former IHRA executive turned producer Ted Jones.

Veteran drag racing promoter Bill Doner had a close race with TV Tommy Ivo for the first day of voting but pulled away in the final 48 hours of voting. Doner won after securing 59.38 percent of the votes to beat Ivo’s 40.62.
