Longtime bracket racing legend, drag racing school instructor and overall good guy Jimmy “The Shoe” Harrington has fallen on hard times with his health and could use our prayers.

Harrington is currently hospitalized and battling an undisclosed illness.

Friends of Jimmy "The Shoe" Harrington have organized a fundraiser to help defray medical expenses.

"As Jim continues to seek treatment there are uncovered medical bills that are weighing heavy on his wife Tracey," said friend Tom DePascale. "I am asking for your help in lessening the burden on her during this Holiday Season. I will ensure that all contributions will be forwarded to Jim's wife Tracey. I do understand that we are all facing difficult economic times but I encourage you to do anything you can to help a Racer in Need."

According to DePascale, Jeff Strickland will be creating stickers which will be given to everyone that is able to make a contribution to this recovery fund.

A spokesman for the family told CompetitionPlus.com that they are grateful for the friends who have come by to express their support during this obviously tough time. Those who have visited, the spokesman added, have uplifted his spirits.
