Is The “I Still Hate Your Guts Tour” Tour on for 2010?

A handful of prominent drag strips have expressed a serious interest to book in longtime Pro Street rivals Pat Musi and Tony Christian for match races.

A call to Musi on Tuesday revealed that at least one track has sent a letter of intent and Musi says he is in the process of contacting Christian’s representatives to see if the agreement works for his long time adversary.

“I’m trying to reach him,” Musi said. “There’s a 99.9-percent chance that this thing is going to go down.”

Musi declined to reveal the location of the match race but did say they are looking at a March date. He’s also reportedly working behind the scenes with chassis builder Jerry Bickel to bring out a new, lightweight version of his “Popeye” 1969 Camaro.

Musi is confident that this match race will be the first of many throughout the year. And for him, when he races against Christian, there’s no love lost.

“You can call this the, ‘I still hate your guts tour',” Musi said.

Musi isn’t planning to lose, confirming he will have Pro Stock legend Rickie Smith in his corner for the weekend.

Smith, recognized by CompetitionPlus.com as the No. 1 Mountain Motor Pro Stock racer of all time, sports a lengthy resume which includes seven IHRA world championships.

“I’m bringing Rickie, Tony better bring David Reher and all of his horsepower,” Musi added. “He’s gonna need it.

“When you look at how our car went down the track run after run at the PSCA, it shows just how talented Rickie Smith is. I can tell you the team that let him go will suffer for it. Their loss is my gain, I can promise you that.”

Smith recently showcased his talents in Bradenton, Fla., when he laid down a 5.903 elapsed time at 240.70 miles per hour in 1,600-foot air with his new Sonny Leonard engine.
