WILL RIDING MOMENTUM INTO NHRA FINALS AT POMONA

"We've come a really long way very quickly," Will, a former Top Fuel Dragster driver, said. Having been absent from the driver's seat all season before the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals two weeks ago, she made arrangements to drive three races in former world champion Tom Conway's A/Fuel Dragster - the first time she has piloted an A/Fueler.

"I slightly underestimated the difference between the Top Fuel and A/Fuel cars, but Tom and his crew have been just awesome to work with. We struggled at the National in Vegas, but we really shined in the Divisional.

"Seeing the win lights come on as I cross the line - that's what we as drivers race for, and that was really fun for me last weekend. I'm anxious to keep that momentum going coming into Pomona, and I'm really confident we can keep moving forward," she said.

As a Top Fuel driver, Will was able to score her first career victory at Topeka in 2008, becoming the 11th female to win a pro race in NHRA history. She also posted runner-up finishes at her home track in Sonoma and in Richmond that same year, and finished a career-best fourth in the Full Throttle Series point standings. She also holds the title of "fastest female" in NHRA history with speed of 334.65 mph.

As part of her sponsorship by Get Screened America, Will has become a more vocal proponent of the benefits of preventive medical screening - something she has long been in favor of.

"Being involved with Roger Burgess and Get Screened America has really taught me a whole lot about the importance of health screenings. I didn't fully grasp that heart disease is the nation's single leading cause of death, and that it can be treated very simply - if it's detected early. That's where the blood pressure screening comes in," Will said.

According to statistics published by the American Heart Association, an estimated 72 million people age 20 and older in the U.S. suffer from high blood pressure, and more than 25 percent are unaware of their condition.

"It's a simple thing to test for, and the treatments can be as simple as eating right, stopping smoking, increasing exercise and losing weight - depending on what a doctor says. And it can save your life, and that's the part I love. Drag racing is my passion, but doing something that can save a life is just amazing," Will said.

Will and the Get Screened America Dragster will tackle the venerable quarter-mile at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona with qualifying rounds scheduled Thursday at noon and Friday at noon and 3:30 p.m. Eliminations are scheduled to being at 1:00 p.m. Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
