AUSSIE TOP DOORSLAMMER RACER JUDD CONFIDENT AFTER RECORD-SETTING PERFORMANCE

Robin_Judd-10TAMedResPerth-based Chartered Accountant, Robin Judd, is confident of taking the outright lead in the Australian Top Doorslammer championship series at the Perth Motorplex on November 13-14, after running Australia’s quickest-ever Doorslammer pass.

Judd will go into the 38th annual Goldenstates after recording the record-breaking 5.822-second pass at the Perth Motorplex on October 31 and fresh from winning the Australian Nationals at the Western Sydney Dragway in September.

Judd and archrival John Zappia are currently locked together on 165 points after two rounds of the 2009/2010 ANDRA Pro Series drag racing championship series.

Perth-based Chartered Accountant, Robin Judd, is confident of taking the outright lead in the Australian Top Doorslammer championship series at the Robin_Judd-10TAMedResPerth Motorplex on November 13-14, after running Australia’s quickest-ever Doorslammer pass.

After winning the Nationals with his then quickest-ever pass (5.850-seconds) and running the 5.822sec at Perth, Judd believes his William Buck/K & B Exclusive team has a proven combination to win the Goldenstates and take the championship series lead.

Not only was the 5.822sec the quickest-ever Top Doorslammer pass, Judd’s 60-foot (18-metre) time (0.977sec) was the quickest-ever recorded in Australia by a doored car.

“There is no doubt, running the 5.822sec pass has given us an enormous confidence boost going into the Perth championship round,” Judd said.

While Judd’s record-breaking pass sent a shock wave around the Top Doorslammer community, Judd is confident he can repeat the performance at next week’s Goldenstates.

“Since we last ran in a Top Doorslammer championship event at the Motorplex, we have made considerable changes to our combination so it was important to get a baseline for the Goldenstates.

“After trying a couple of different combinations earlier in the day (October 31), we went back to our winning Nationals final (round) set-up and with a couple of minor variations, managed to produce the quickest-ever Doorslammer pass to date. The best thing is we have not started to really lean on the motor yet so we think there’s more in it.”

Judd also sees the Goldenstates as the most important in his 10-year drag racing career. Not only will he go to the Perth event in the points lead – albeit joint leader with nemesis Zappia – for the first time, Judd also goes to the event with the knowledge that he beat Zappia in the Nationals’ final, acclaimed as the greatest-ever Top Doorslammer race in Australia to date – Judd (5.850sec at 245.67mph) beat Zappia (5.875/243.41) by 7/100ths of a second.

“Doing well in this event is extremely important, because it is a bonus point round – Perth championship rounds carry a 50 percent bonus – and whoever wins or goes more rounds out of Zap (Zappia) and me, will have a clear advantage in the championship race. And I want that to be the William Buck/K & B Exclusive team,” Judd declared.
