Don’t adjust your computer monitor in the morning if your CompetitionPlus.com homepage looks redesign2different. It’s supposed to look different.

Through the efforts of talented web designer Ryan McCoy, owner of 1320 Media, CompetitionPlus.com has overhauled its look for the first time since 2006.

The new design features a wider content area and in time, larger photos to accompany our informative articles. This design is expected to make navigating the site a quicker process and likewise provide a quicker download for the readers.

“For the last three years, we have put our emphasis on publishing the best stories available while putting less emphasis on the latest bells and whistles web designing has to offer,” said CompetitionPlus.com Editor Bobby Bennett. “In the last few years there have been crucial changes in the art of web design, and for our readers, we felt this was the right time. We want to upgrade our look to compliment what we feel are the best drag racing stories.”

Having made a drastic change during the 2006 conversion to a file management system, Bennett felt the time was right to adjust the look of the magazine to serve the large resolution monitors as well as improve performance in a multitude of browsers.

“You have to change with the times but we were very careful that we didn’t upset the apple cart,” Bennett added. “We wanted change but wanted to keep the standard core of the CompetitionPlus.com design that our readers have become accustomed to.”

Outside of the obviously larger design, CompetitionPlus.com will compact its popular departments into one module where the reader can check the latest breaking news, pore over the latest features stories and keep up with the weekend’s race coverage.

This compacted design will prevent the need for the long scroll to read all the feature stories and race coverage for the month. A simple click of the arrow can allow the reader to peruse the respective departments.

“One of the new advantages that pleases me the most is that a reader will now see up to five news stories and five of the latest rumors when they first log in,” Bennett explained. “One of the frustrating parts is that we constantly update the site each day as news breaks and often, when a reader didn’t see a change in the top two stories, they just assumed we hadn’t put up anything new.

“Sometimes we put up to 30 new stories daily but not all stories are front page material. Then when you get a number of good stories, you had to pick and choose which one got the boot from the front page.”

Bennett understands that readers get into a comfort zone with their favorite websites, but changes like this are necessary to keep up in the competitive world of Internet journalism and advertising.

“Ride with us and be patient,” Bennett said. “We are doing this to serve you better and in the long run, we will.”
