French sent CompetitionPlus.com an email, on Friday afternoon, detailing his desire to replace Richards’ the stolen scooter with a brand new Schwinn. The very next morning Richards was presented with his new pit vehicle.

“I just wanted to give back to the sport I love,” French said Saturday morning while at O’Reilly Raceway Park. “I operate three car dealerships and we also sell scooters. I read about Roger’s plight and I’ve loved seeing his pictures over the years.”

Richards was deeply touched by the French’s gesture.

“I’m speechless,” Richards said. “This is really overwhelming to say the least. I think this says a lot about the drag racing community and how we are one big family.”

Richards also received a generous offer from Ohio Crankshaft’s Stan Ray to replace the stolen scooter.

“You know when you have something bad like this happen and then you see all the good people step up to make good on what one bad person does, it’s awful encouraging,” Richards concluded.
