NASCAR NIGHT COMES TO ZMAX

Some of the fastest drivers, car owners and mechanics ever to turn left will give it their all to go straight on Tuesday, Aug. 25, as biffle.jpgNASCAR Night returns to zMAX Dragway.

Last October more than 100 NASCAR industry personnel descended on the Bellagio of drag strips to take their street cars down the concretequarter-mile. This year, there's a new twist-participants can race anything they wish down the drag strip, making this a true "run what you brung" event.

"I've had a lot of fun at zMAX Dragway over the past year racing my 2007 Shelby GT 500," said Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford. "Without a doubt, the highlight for me was racing in front of a packed house at PINKS All Out back in April.

"It's sort of rekindled the old drag racing bug for me. As a teenager I'd race Wednesday night grudge matches on the eighth-mile back home. We've been able to get the Shelby GT down to about 10 (seconds) flat and I hope to break into the nine-second range on Tuesday.

"With the 'run what you brung' format there's no telling what some of these guys will bring to the dragway."

In addition to some of the NASCAR industry's brightest battling at zMAX Dragway, the evening will include passes by the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock teams of Greg Anderson and Jason Line, Nitro Drag Bikes and Pro Mods.

NASCAR Night is open to the public with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. On-track action is set for 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free with proof of purchase at the gate to either the NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America or the second annual NHRA Carolinas Nationals. Spectators without a ticket to either event may donate $5 to Speedway Children's Charities upon entry.
