ARANA CLINCHES BERTH IN PLAYOFFS EN ROUTE TO WINNER'S CIRCLE

“That win felt awesome,” said Hector Arana, after capturing his second Pro Stock Motorcycle race hector_arana.jpgof the season. “It couldn't get any better. To win over here at the home track of Lucas Oil, sponsored by Lucas Oil, having Forrest and Charlotte and my family, friends and the fans who treat us very well here. From the moment I got here I felt relaxed.”

With the victory, Arana clinched a spot in the Countdown to One, an accomplishment he failed to achieve last year. Guaranteed a spot in the run to the title, Arana says this gives the team the opportunity to try some things they might not have otherwise felt comfortable trying.

“The pressure is off,” he said.

“The pressure is off,” he said.

There was more than the victory giving Arana a good feeling on the day. Arana, admittedly a close friend of Pippin, was excited to see him get his first round win.

“When I first saw Junior Pippin won his first run I was really happy for him. We have become friends. We have always talked and I see how much work and effort he has put in his bike. He's done everything he can to be successful and finally it happened for him.

“It's an awesome feeling to see that and he really needed it. I know he just got the jump start that he needed to get to keep going.”

Pippin aside, Arana looked like he had a perfect weekend. It was not.

“On Friday we had a couple runs that something wasn't quite right. I had concern with that engine, but it was the only engine I had. We took it halfway down but couldn't find anything.”

Then the rain late on Saturday left Arana facing his first run on Sunday wondering about his tuneup.

“The outcome, I won the race. I really felt good Forrest and Charlotte (Lucas) were here.”
