A stiff tailwind, the exact opposite of Friday's strong headwind, helped several drivers make strong moves up the ladder, including Smith.

“A lot of people made some great laps,” said Krawiec of the final round of qualifying. “Matt Smith went out there for the Suzuki guys and definitely showed them that the hope is there. There is no doubt a Suzuki can come out here and run with everybody.”

The Suzuki aside, the help of a tailwind was a positive for Krawiec.

“It's a big change with the motorcycle, going into a headwind versus a tailwind. We're one of the motorcycles out there that doesn't have a huge front area with the front ferring. It helps us out much more with a tailwind than it does a head. A sidewind doesn't effect you as much as long as you know how to correct and get through it.

“A tailwind and getting hotter, to see those times definitely wasn't shocking.”

Hines made his run right in front of Krawiec and the Brownsburg, Ind native was certain at that point he was running for second.

“When Matt made that lap, I said 'wow'. Honestly I said I was going to be number two. I thought maybe we were going to go a 92 or 93. To go that 91 was just a good pass. I think we underestimate the tailwind and conditions once in awhile.”
