KRISHER FOLLOWS EDWARDS' LEAD

If the car ain’t broke, the general rule is that you don’t fix it. And, if Mike Edwards isn't on top the DSC_0445.JPGnext best thing is a car with an Edwards' engine under the hood.

Ron Krisher's car wasn't broke, it just wasn't running up to it's expected potential, so he started to make changes.

Krisher didn’t change everything on his Pro Stocker but what he did move around paid off on Friday during the NHRA Fram Autolite Nationals in Sonoma, Ca. He made the initial changes on Sunday at last weekend’s race in Seattle.

“What we changed around appeared to be working today,” Krisher said. “We were having trouble controlling wheel speed at the end of the run and consequently it would get away from us. Mike [Edwards] helped us change the bar and do some things differently. It really picked the car up on the 60-foot.”

Krisher claimed the provisional No. 1 with a 6.573 elapsed time at 208.24.

Competition had better beware in the coming days. Krisher believes his car some more left; it just might not be evident tomorrow.

“We won’t see it tomorrow because there will be water in the air tomorrow morning,” Krisher said. “There always is with the fog and these Pro Stockers just don’t like that [water in the air] at all.”

Adding to that potential shortcoming is the fact that Krisher’s run came in the midst of a tough headwind that moved his Chevrolet Cobalt considerably in the back half of the track.

Krisher is unsure whether his run will remain atop the sixteen-car field following Saturday’s pair of session.

“Mike [Edwards] can be pretty fast, but so can Greg [Anderson], Jason [Line] and Allen [Johnson],” Krisher said. “I wouldn’t be on anything because there are some fast cars out here.”

Retaining the top spot in Sonoma would go a long way towards helping Krisher forget a Denver red-light, two races ago.

“I just can’t get over that one, it’s just burned me up inside,” admitted Krisher. “Had a chance to win and just blew it. Winning Sonoma would mean a lot to me.”
