SMOOTH TRANSITION FOR MILLICAN

Clay Millican described Friday's first two qualifying rounds at the NHRA Northwest Nationals in Seattle as a good day overall. The day millican.jpgwent so smooth, he nearly forgot he was driving a car that had surgery just days earlier in the chassis shop.

The LifeLockracing.com Top Fuel dragster -- with a new front-half installed this week -- registered two very competitive elapsed times, 3.934 seconds at 302.08 mph in the evening session that put him sixth going into Saturday's final sessions, and a 4.040 at 291.45.

"From what we saw, we have as good a car as anybody when it comes to running big numbers," he continued. Crew chief Lance Larsen "told me before the run that he expected to run a 3.94, and we did.  We outran (five-time reigning Top Fuel champion) Tony Schumacher (3.937).  We feel we're in good company with times like that.

"The car drove so well, I didn't even think about it having a new front half.  That Brad Hadman (the chassis builder from nearby Tacoma) does a fantastic job."
