NHRA Funny Car points leader Ashley Force Hood is used to going from point A to point B as quickly as possible in her Castrol GTX Ford Mustang on the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. For the next three weeks however Ashley and her husband Dan will be taking their time as they tackle the daunting NHRA Western Swing behind the wheel of an El Monte RV.

“This will be quite an adventure for Dan and me. A lot of the other drivers take their families on the road for the Western Swing so we thought it would be a lot of fun. Plus, we can bring along our cat Simba which is a huge bonus since when we are on the road he really misses us. I haven’t really travelled in an RV that much but this El Monte RV is like driving a dream house. It is so comfortable and easy to drive,” said Ashley Force Hood, current NHRA Funny Car points leader.

The pair set off for Denver, Colorado, site of the 30th annual MOPAR Mile High NHRA Nationals, on Monday, July 6th from the John Force Racing headquarters in Yorba Linda, California. After the Denver race they will hit the road for Seattle, Washington, where Ashley will be racing at the 22nd annual NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceway the weekend of July 17-19. The next to last leg of the trip will take them to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California, for the 22nd annual FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals July 24-26 before they return to Yorba Linda at the end of the month.

The couple will travel approximately 2,115 miles and they will be travelling in style behind the wheel of a 2009 34 ft. Class A Bounder by Fleetwood.  It is loaded with luxury amenities and is the same type of vehicle being driven in the new TV show “The Great American Road Trip” on NBC.
