KAY SCORES VICTORY AT WCOPMA EVENT IN MEDFORD

Randy Kay won the latest West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association event at Champion Raceway in Medford, Oregon, which was Kay_-_Event_Winner.jpgcontested over the Independence Day weekend.

Five teams, including previous event winner Rod Burbage, Kay, Lee Smith, Jay Diedrich and Greg Carlile from northern Washington State were in attendence.  Parts attrition from the previous race along with the holiday weekend kept the participation lower than expected.

Kay led early qualifying by posting a 6.369 elapsed time at 225.90 miles per hour, a run which would stand throughout qualifying. The No. 1 status earned Kay a first round bye run.

Kay advanced to the final round by stopping Carlisle.

On the other side of the ladder, Burbage also gained a first round bye run and in the semis established low elapsed time [6.302] beating Smith.

The event was a rematch between Kay and Burbage, who met in the finals of the previous event.  This time Kay won on both ends of the track in blasting out his quickest lap of the weekend, a 6.319, 229.20, to beat the 6.370 from Burbage.
