FORCE HOOD: TESTING LIMITS ADDED TO EVERYONE'S STRUGGLES

Ashley Force Hood believes the NHRA’s moratorium on testing has led to struggles and frustrations, at times, for John Force Racing.

Instead of their traditional Monday test sessions following virtually every NHRA event in the past, those test runs transpire during national event.

“I think it's added to everyone's struggle and frustration that every lap, even not full run, half track passes, and launches, everything helps in testing not just for the team but for the drivers just to gain more experience and track time,” Force Hood said. “But you know, that's part of the game, and you know, you go along with the rules and everybody is in the same boat.  So it is frustrating though because they always love to have that option of having to have testing and they have always really utilized it.”

The lack of testing options in 2009 proved an initial hardship but the team has adjusted and Force Hood believes JFR, which initially struggled in the early going, is starting to find its stride.

Force Hood has mixed emotions of freedom on Mondays.

“There's pluses and minuses,” Force Hood said. “We like to have that extra time to get home but on the flipside we love to have that testing come race week and you need that extra [seat time] right there behind you.

“The time you do have at home, I think most racers, especially right in the mid of the season, it's almost a waste of time, you would rather be at the track and stay in the groove of things rather than you get home and it's a change of pace.  I think for the rest of the summer, we'll be on the road and taking it as an adventure.”
