FOUR RACES REMAINING, GSA NHRA PRO MOD COMPETITION TIGHTENS

Competition tightens in Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash with only four races remaining
 
pm_final.JPGCompetition is heating up for qualifying in the $35,000 Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash after five of nine qualifying events in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx. Beginning at the NHRA Gatornationals in March, drivers have earned points for the "race-within-a-race" which pits the top Pro Mods against each other with the chance to race for a $25,000 top prize.
 
The nitrous-powered team of Al-Anabi and Awesome Motorsports with drivers Burton Auxier and Mike Castellana has jumped out to an impressive lead, taking the top two spots. Both drivers have won an event this season, Castellana taking Gainesville and Auxier scoring in Bristol.

Roger Burgess and his R2B2 Racing '67 Camaro is currently sitting third, having scored a win in St. Louis, while Matco Tools' own driver Joe Baker sits fourth based on consistent finishes in every race.
 
Spots 5-7 are separated by only three points, with Houston winner Danny Rowe is fifth at 272 points, Topeka runner-up Jay Payne sixth with 271 points, and Topeka champion Tim Tindle sitting lucky seven at 270.
 
Currently tied for the eighth spot are turbo-powered Brad Personett and Bristol runner-up Raymond Commisso, both having 227 points.
 
On the outside looking in are Rick Stivers and Taylor Lastor, both with 200 points and  a little over one round-win out of the pack, and hard-running Mike Knowles in his Knowles Enterprises/B&J Transmission '63 Corvette.
 
The $35,000 Matco Tools Pro Mod Clash will be contested at the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, October 29-November 1 with the winner will receiving $25,000, runner-up $5,000, and each of the semifinalists $2,500.
 
A random drawing will pair the top eight drivers after nine races in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx, with lane choice going to the higher-qualified driver.
