Noted fuel system and fuel pump specialists Aeromotive have taken a stock 5.4 liter Cobra Jet engine, joined it with an aftermarket ECU, and installed it in a traditional Super Comp dragster.

This combination will be Aeromotive’s effort to market an off-the-shelf engine with a retrofit kit including: mid plate, bracketry, fuel system, preprogrammed powerglide transmission and case and everything else needed to “bolt in” a Ford 5.4 liter Cobra Jet engine into a tube chassis race car.

Aeromotive owner and President Steve Matusek will drive the Super Comp dragster as well as his popular turbocharged Comp eliminator Shelby Cobra Mustang.

Matusek plans to shake the dragster down before stepping aside to let incoming Kansas University student and former Junior Dragster racer Katie Peters drive the unique combination.

Peters’ parents, Pernell and Deanne, field an AA/SA 2008 Cobra Jet Mustang which is driven by Amanda Matusek, Steve’s daughter and an incoming junior at Kansas University.
