HYDE OFF TO QUICK START ON QUICK 32 SERIES

NAPA Auto Parts stepped up to the plate to sponsor the new Quick 32 Sportsman Series with the season’s first race this past clip_image002_124.jpgweekend at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.

The Hyde Racing Team was ready for a great weekend and it proved to be just that.

Driver Spencer Hyde did not disappoint, along with crew chief Rich Ingram and his team of Jim McCann, Ron Hyde, Jack Hyde and Peter. This was a big weekend for Spencer. It was the first race in his new car in the new division (for him) of Top Dragster, and he competed in the first race of this brand new series, pulling out a win against Mitch Elliott of Woodstock with a 6.854-second, 199.85 mph pass down the Cayuga quarter-mile.

In round two of eliminations he was up against Melanie Simmons of Orillia and pulled another win, running 6.899-seconds at 186-mph, and shutting off early as he drove around her at the top end.

Spencer drew T.J. Schippling in the semi-finals of the dragster side and dialed a 6.84 to TJ’S 7.34, and lost to eventual winner TJ, who won the event, beating doorslammer Jeff Gabel in the finals.

The weekend was extra special as Spencer’s younger sister, Sydnie Hyde, 14, ran her first race of the season in the Junior Dragster series.  After a few car complications Sydnie had some great lights and made it through two rounds of elimination running 7.97-seconds at 82-mph and 7.99-seconds at 81-mph.

Spencer credits his crew Rich Ingram (chief), Jim McCann (tuner), Ron Hyde, Jack Hyde and Peter Hyde.  “Without them this would have never been possible,” he said.
