Great story.  I grew up around those guys through my dad who had a gas station with Kanners back in 1969. All those guys started in 62 or so at Midwest Auto in Berkley, Mi which would later become Booth and Arons. Dick just left, Denny Hummel is the only one left at B&A.  The place was owned by Ron Reader, started in 1960 it was the place to be with guys like Dick Maskin, Dave Kanners, Booth & Arons, the Late Danny Elkins ( Diamond Pistons), Mike Fonzs, Uncle Sam Gianino, All kicking butt on Woodward Ave it was a beautiful thing. Back in 1969 they did a news show out of the gas station at 14 & Woodward crowing Woodward as the street racing capital of the world and I'm trying to get everyone together for a little reunion next Dream Cruise. - Mickey Hershey

Thank you for the story. I love the old pro-stock stuff. Maskin/Arons/Booth have been there since the beginning. Good to see that Detroit area has produced such awesome drag racing engine builders. - Rick Rzepka
