FEEDBACK FRIDAY - DISTASTE FROM ABROAD

FEEDBACK ARTICLE - STRAIGHT AHEAD by Jeff Wolf

I totally agree with you! The NHRA has to much power and the clowns of the circus, being the participants , have more or less nothing to say; just like here on Aruba. I fully agree with you that the points system as it is has produced real excitement during the last 2 years and I do not see that coming with the new format. A format like yours with the season being divided in half maybe would be more attractive to the fans than the format mandated by the NHRA. For Top Fuel and Funny Car the format you are suggesting would have  given more or less the same outcome, with Schumacher and Kalitta battling it out in TF and Force and Capps battling it out in FC both on a more leveled playing field in Pomona. That would have been the case in PS also, if I am not mistaken with Anderson and Line battling for the title in Pomona. However, in PSB it probably would have been a completely different result with Angelle being one of the two last 'men' to stand, based on her performance in the first half of the year. And I personally think that that is the direction into which NHRA wants to go, where the drivers/teams do not get penalized by 'adhoc' performances.

Another issue that bothers me about the NHRA is the situation with the cars and such they/their sponsors have put available for the fans to win. We as foreigners are the ones that have the biggest expenses to be at a race, and simply due to the fact that we ain't residents we are not able to participate. However, disregarding our higher expenses in airfare etc., we ain't getting any compensation against our inability to participate in such drawings. I consider that UNFAIR. I think we should get some compensation, such as getting discounts on those highly-expensive entrance tickets, or be able to participate in the drawings.

I hope you could start a new 'forum' like discussion on my concern too!
