FEEDBACK ARTICLE - Phil Burkart's 11th Hour Dismissal

It’s amazing that Phil Burkart could lose his job and yet finish in the top ten point standings this year while his boss was on the outside looking in.

I don't blame the Worsham's for they had to do what was best for them and the team, especially in today's Drag Racing climate.

It's a shame that corporate America now has its greedy claws fully sunk into Drag Racing.  It seems they are now calling all of the shots and it is not good for the sport. It’s a shame the corporate suits are now telling the teams who they want to fill a driving position now more than ever.  There are great and established drivers who are out of work for the sake of the so called "new blood" coming into the sport with wads of corporate money backing them.

I have had enough of the NHRA and their corporate brethren.  The cost of going to see an NHRA race is becoming outrageous and they will eventually price themselves right out of the market. My local track is R.T. 66 Raceway in Joliet IL which is a great place to watch a race. However they cannot fill the place to even half capacity for their one and only major NHRA event. Most of the fans I talk to say it’s too expensive to watch a race there.

I have more fun watching the independent racers run at U.S. 41 Dragway in Morocco Indiana. They have a great bracket racing program and put on a couple of fun nostalgia shows twice a year.  U.S. 41 Dragway is filled to capacity when they run their monthly Street Car Chaos series. This race is a total blast and all for a measly $20.00 spectator fee.

Wake up NHRA. Stop kicking the fans, the independent race teams and drivers in the rear before it's too late. - Bruce Lewis, St.John Ind
