Summernats today have unveiled the official video from the world record attempt, with never before seen footage right up close to the action.

69 cars took part, creating a staggering blanket of smoke that could be seen from the other side of Canberra, in a feat never before attempted anywhere in the world.

On the 4th of January, 2013 at Summernats 26 in Canberra, Australia, the Guinness World Record was broken for the most amount of cars in a simultaneous burnout. Summernats today have unveiled the official video from the world record attempt, with never before seen footage right up close to the action.

69 cars took part, creating a staggering blanket of smoke that could be seen from the other side of Canberra, in a feat never before attempted anywhere in the world.

As the smoke cleared, the record was confirmed by Guinness World Records official, Chris Sheedy to a roaring crowd of over 10,000.

“The Guinness World Record burnout attempt has already gone down as one of the biggest moments in the history of the Summernats, and we’re proud to be able to share what it was like to be there on that day with the rest of the world through this official video,” said event co-owner Andy Lopez.

“We’d really like to thank all the drivers, staff and sponsors for making this incredible event happen. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without you guys.”

Drivers came from all across Australia to fry their tyres together in this historic event, some traveling thousands of kilometres from Western Australian and Northern Queensland to take part in the rare feat.

138 tires x 30 seconds x over 35,000 horsepower = 1 world record.
