SCHUMACHER RACING DOUBLES DOWN IN PHOENIX

With the rain gone and the skies blue Don Schumacher Racing pulled off a double in the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Firebird Int'l Raceway Monday afternoon.

First into the winner's circle was Jack Beckman, in the Valvoline MTS Dodge Charger. Beckman was followed by Top Fuel teammate, Cory McClenathan in his Fram dragster.

This is the 23rd time DSR teams have doubled up in the winner's circle and two of those times were triples. The last time DSR doubled up was last year in the first Vegas race with Ron Capps and Tony Schumacher doing the honors. It is the first time McClenathan and Beckman have been in the Winner's Circle together as team mates.

Pro Stock's Greg Anderson will remember Phoenix for much more than the race in which he had to start off by racing his brother-in-law, who was competing in the  KB Racing-powered Pontiac which Anderson had campaigned for most of last season.

He simply will remember it as the race in which he was glad to escape with his body and equipment intact.
