This Might be a little late for when you wrote your article, but did you read the story about the Parade of Power that Bruton Smith did in the up town streets of Charlotte on Wednesday the the 5th? Thats one very good way you promote a race. They were promoting the Lowes NASCAR race and the zMAX NHRA race, both in the fall. What a very good way to get the peoples attention. And when Doug Herbert fired up his top fuel car, If that didn't get people to notice, then they were dead. What a promoter. Bruton is hired. Just my toughts. - Rick Mitchell

I really do not claim to be an authority on peoples lives. Especially if I don't know them. This being said could there possibly be a bigger pair of lying back stabbing hypocrites in the sport than the pedrogon brothers. "small p" My only guess would be the producers at ESPN. The problems at NHRA have nothing to do with the racers, it has everything to do with the two politicians at the top (Tom Compton and Graham Light) with no personal oars in water except for sucking large paychecks out of the organization and whatever else is being stuck in their back pockets. The sooner those two quit, or are forced out, the better for all of us that truly love drag racing. - Jason Bonham
I think the NHRA did the right thing by going to the countdown. Every ball or hockey sport does the same thing its called the playoffs. I think all the winers need to shut up and play ball. If your the best you got to play your best down the stretch. - Tony Pezzino

Excellent article. I'm not a tuner by any stretch of anyone's imagination, but I've been a hardcore fan for 44 years now, and the talk about how the Army team was basically doomed to suck because Alan Johnson had left was just plain screwy. Same with the people that think Mike Green will be lost if AJ does some new tweaks to his tuneup for 2010 and "renders" Green's black book obsolete. Give me a break! - Bill Huseth
