We've unearthed a rare video of the American Hot Rod Association's Grand American Series. Long before there was Route 66 Raceway there was U.S. 30 Drag Strip in Gary, Indiana.

You will see the legends of the sport before they were legends. It's a reminder of how pure drag racing used to be.

The Top Fuel field is loaded with Don Garlits, Chris Karamesines, Jerry Ruth, Johnny Abbott, Dick LaHaie, and Frank Bradley.

Here's a sampling of the floppers you'll see. Don Prudhomme's Pepsi Firebird, Tom McEwen's Coors Corvette, John Force's Mountain Dew Chevy Citation, Mike Dunn Hawaiian Dodge Omni and Tom Hoover's Showtime Corvette are just a few of the Funny car drivers you will see.

You'll also see the top alcohol cars of the era.
