BARTENDING DEJORIA READY TO MEET CHICAGO FANS

Alexis DeJoria has name recognition.

The NHRA nitro Funny Car driver enjoys signing autographs and meeting fans.

DeJoria, however, wanted to put a different spin on things in preparation for the Lucas Oil Nationals July 10-12 in Chicago.

DeJoria, the driver of the Patrón XO Cafe Incendio Funny Car, is going to be doing some guest bartending at Moe’s Cantina, located at River North, 155 W. Kinzie St., in Chicago.

DeJoria will be at Moe’s on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Central Time. Reservations are highly recommended, and to do so contact 773-348-8899.

“This is wild because I’ve never done anything like this on a stage this big,” DeJoria said. “I’m just excited to being to do this and promote the brand and tie it all into the NHRA. While I’m mixing those drinks I’m going to try and get as many people as I can to go to the race. I’m sure there are going to be fans who show up that will know about our team, but I also want to help get some new fans to come to the race.”

DeJoria will be serving special ‘race themed’ Patrón cocktails for fans and media members at the event.

“I do like the autograph sessions we do for fans, but a lot of those are the same and we’re just saying hi and bye to fans and signing for them,” DeJoria said. “What I’m doing before the Chicago race will allow me to interact more with the fans who come to the event.”

The three primary drinks DeJoria will be serving at Moe’s are the 771 – which consists of Patron XO Café Incendio, Patron Reposado Tequila and Horchata. Then, there is the Incendio Racer – which is Patron XO Café Incendio Cream, and last but not least is the XO Café Funny Car – which consists of Patron XO Café and San Pellegrino Aranciata.

“This should be a lot of fun,” DeJoria said.

DeJoria heads to Chicago 10th in the season points with an 11-12 elimination round record. DeJoria’s best race to date in 2015 was a runner-up finish at Englishtown, N.J., when she lost to Matt Hagan in the finals June 7. The last race at Norwalk, Ohio, July 5 DeJoria qualified No. 12 and lost to her Kalitta Motorsports teammate Del Worsham in the second round.

“We are 10th in the points, but we definitely need to get things going,” DeJoria said.

A year ago, DeJoria finished a career-best seventh in the points on the strength of three wins, including a victory at the prestigious U.S. Nationals.
