“Outlaw 4.70 has gotten really popular, especially in the Southeast,” Earwood said, “and we’re excited to be able to introduce it to our fans during one of our biggest fall events.  I think it’s a great complement to Open Comp, Pro Tree Doorslammers, Footbrake and the two Index classes, 6.0 and 7.0.”

Earwood said he expects as many as 20 of the 4.70 cars to attempt to qualify for 16 starting starting spots on Saturday, Oct. 18.  Qualifying at 11 a.m. and 12 noon on will set the lineup for eliminations Saturday afternoon.

Among those already committed to the event are Jonathan Gibbs of Mooresville and his 1963 Corvette; Donnie Gibbs, also of Mooresville, and his 1992 Camaro; Dale McSwain of Mt. Gilead and his 2013 Camaro; Nick Cline of Davidson and his unique 1937 Chevy coupe; and Kevin Carpenter of  Pageland, S.C., and his 1969 Camaro.  Others include Jeremy Youker of Salisbury, driving a 2010 Cobalt, and James Bunton of Statesville in his 1998 Corvette.

Preliminaries will begin Friday, Oct. 17, with a 4-10 p.m. test session for all participants.  Qualifying sessions for Open Comp. 6.0 and 7.0 will follow the Outlaw sessions Saturday with eliminations Saturday afternoon. Open Comp, 6.0 and 7.0 combo will compete again on Sunday at noon.

General admission tickets are $20 per day, $35 Saturday and Sunday or $40 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday with $10 off for all active members of the military.  Children under six are free when accompanied by a ticketed adult and parking is free in Rockingham’s main lot.
