JUST TO CLARIFY . . .

NHRA Plain Oval 4CTony Schumacher's feat last weekend at Dallas of earning two Top Fuel trophies in a single weekend marked the first time that happened in the Top Fuel ranks -- even in the nitro-powered ranks.

However, Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Eddie Krawiec won the rain-delayed final round of the 2012 Reading event at the fall Las Vegas race that Saturday, then won the Las Vegas event, as well. Krawiec was the first and only other professional competitor to win twice in one weekend.

Krawiec had to run just the final round in that 2012 completion of the Reading race. Schumacher had to race three rounds last Saturday at Dallas in the latest change-of-venue resumption of a race.

Only four times, at least in modern NHRA history, has a national event carried over elimination rounds to another venue. That string began with the Phoenix-Gainesville transfer followed by the Reading rainout in 2012, then extended to this year’s Brainerd-Indianapolis and Charlotte-Dallas events.
