Thousands of fans witnessed dozens of 250-mph, sub-six-second runs throughout the course of the vitally important NHRA Heritage Series, which serves to preserve the history of nitro-fueled funny car drag racing.

In that spirit of preservation, Prolong Super Lubricants brings their line of advanced protection products directly to the track, supporting racers with continued production of Prolong Nitro Racing Oil and rewarding the Boise-Bakersfield Blitz series winner with this valuable prize.

"Every race was a battle to the end," said Jon Apogee, general manager, marketing, domestic sales and motorsports, Prolong Super Lubricants. "These drivers keep the sport alive, just like Prolong lubricants keep engines at their best."

Drag cars appearing in the series carry an exterior appearance true to their era, but are outfitted with the latest in powertrain technology and safety equipment to confidently reach some of the highest speeds in the sport. Unlike other sports, veterans and newcomers compete against each other in a single class undivided by gender, representing the true inclusive nature of the sport.

"Firebird Raceway and Famoso Raceway offer the level of traction needed to make these nitro cars fly," Apogee said. "These tracks are set up to help these racers reach those incredible ETs."

As the Boise-Bakersfield Blitz series-end champion, Horan received approximately $4,500 in prizes and cash, including $1,500 of Prolong 70 weight Nitro Racing Oil, a 55-gallon drum of nitromethane racing fuel and a winner's jacket.  The runner-up in the series, Overholser, received approximately $1,600 in cash, prizes and gift certificates including a 55-gallon drum of nitromethane fuel.

Blitz points are earned based upon qualifying positions and event attendance. The top eight points earners of the 2014 season will race for even more cash when the NHRA Heritage Series restarts in March 2015, thanks to a new prize fielded by Auto Club Famoso Raceway management.
