KANSAS INTERNATIONAL DRAGWAY WINS NHRA DIV. 5 BRACKET FINALS


Div5 WestCentral-4cIn the final results from Heartland Park Topeka and the NHRA West Central Division Summit Racing Series, Kansas International Dragway took home the Team Championship while four individual champions were crowned as well.

AJ Percival took home the Super Pro championship and was joined by Reno Loeffelholz, Alix Risse and Jon Haney in the winner’s circle celebration.

AJ Percival took home the Super Pro championship and was joined by Reno Loeffelholz, Alix Risse and Jon Haney in the winner’s circle celebration.

Percival, Windsor, Colo., worked his way through the field and ran 7.519 seconds at 171.23 mph in his final round victory over Mike Campbell, Brooklyn Park, Minn., who clocked in at 7.686 seconds, 176.93 mph in Super Pro.

In Pro, it was Loeffelholz, Shafer, Minn., who outlasted the competition knocking out Butts, Mulvane, Kan. in the final with a pass of 9.454 seconds, 142.22 mph while Risse, Waterloo, Iowa, defeated Troy Ross, Emporia, Kan. with a time of 12.020 at 108.95 mph for the Sportsman title.

Haney, Wichita, Kan., rounded out the weekend’s winners with a lap of 9.734 seconds, 132.83 mph to take down Tom Klemme, Davenport, Iowa in Bike. The four winners will advance to the Summit Racing Series National Championship in November at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona where they will meet up with the winner’s from the six other NHRA divisions.

In the Race of Champions competition it was Larry Richardson, Alamusa, Colo., taking the win in Super Pro over John Davis Jr., Dunkerton, Iowa; Ron Knott, Prior Lake, Minn., defeated Jeffery Freeman, Colona, Ill., in Pro; Mark Johnson, Park City, Kan., took the Sportsman trophy against Rory Emmans, Dayton, Minn.; and the Bike title went to Tom Klemme, Davenport, Iowa, who outran Curtis Spracklin, Omaha, Neb.
