The raceway, soon to reopen, will be operated and promoted by Raceway Promotions, a company formed by John Crane and B.J. Crane and Herrell, both well respected business owners with a love for racing, look to build upon their experience and the storied past of Capitol Raceway to restore the track to a favored destination for racers and fans.

Crane stated: “This is a wonderful opportunity for B.J. and I to go back to the golden days of drag racing. We both are delighted and proud to be operating the track and believe our ideas to make this the hub of racing in the Baltimore/Washington area can be realized with our knowledge of the racers, the fans, and all the business owners that support the racing community. It is our expectation that once the racers see how we operate the track, the community will embrace us with open arms.

“Capitol Raceway will once again be a hard hooking, well run track that makes drivers and team owners feel needed and wanted and keeps the fans coming back for more. We realize that for this track to be successful, we must keep the racers happy and provide them with a facility that they look forward to coming to each week.”

The new management has hired noted track guru Bubba Corzine to bring the track back to tiptop shape. Corzine has previously worked with such organizations as the International Hot Rod Association and the American Drag Racing League.

As noted by Crane, Raceway Promotions hopes to regain the glory days of the track, promoting the opportunity for extraordinary cars to compete each week in the exciting and diverse categories drag racing boasts, all in an atmosphere for both the racers and spectators to enjoy.

Capitol Raceway was famous for its “King of Kings” Funny Car races, in which Funny Cars from all over the country would race for a winner take all purse. Racers and fans can be assured that the return of top names and historic racing is making its return to Capitol Raceway.

Capitol Raceway will reopen under the new management after the Easter weekend holiday, on Friday, April 13th for street cars and regular test and tune.
