“We are scrambling to see if we can debut at Gainesville,” said Windham, of El Dorado Hills, Calif.  “I ran 6.95 and 7.08 seconds on my licensing runs and Roy and Mike Bell signed off on the license.  I’m excited.  If our paperwork can’t be completed in time to make the Gatornationals, we’ll just move our first race to Houston (Raceway Park, site of the O’Reilly Spring Nationals, March 30-April 1).”

He plans to be in Bradenton, Fla., Monday for a three-day test session prior to the Gatornationals.  Windham will be a teammate of Kenny Koretsky and drive a Tire Kingdom-backed Chevy Cobalt for team owner Greg Hill.

“I felt comfortable in the car and now I’m anxious to get into the Cobalt,” added Windham.  “Now all I need is seat time.  I made four complete quarter-mile runs at the driving school.  It felt really cool.”

Windham has driven in NHRA Sportsman categories and needed to upgrade his Competition Eliminator license to Pro Stock.
