JACK BECKMAN TO REPLACE WHIT BAZEMORE AT DON SCHUMACHER RACING

Don Schumacher announced today
that NHRA Super Comp champion and Top Fuel racer Jack Beckman will replace Funny
Car driver Whit Bazemore at this weekend's Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals at Maple
Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa., and for the remainder of the 2006 POWERade Drag
Racing Series.

Beckman, 40, of North Hills, Calif., recently earned his
NHRA Funny Car license driving the Matco Tools Funny Car, which will retain the
Matco Tools sponsorship through the end of 2006.

GARLITS TO BRING SWAMP RAT VIII TO SOUTHERN NOSTALGIA SHOOTOUT

Big Daddy" Don Garlits, number-one
drag racer of all time, will bring Swamp Rat VIII to the Southern Nostalgia
Shootout at South Georgia Motorsports Park, October 27-29. Garlits will be
making smoky blasts (restricted by safety rules to less than one-eighth mile)
and participating in the Cacklefest event on Saturday night.  

Come and see Big Daddy on track and meet him in the pit area. Come
and see how drag racing was in the past.

NHRA AWARDS CEREMONY RETURNS TO THE DESERT

The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing
Series Awards Ceremony will be held at The Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho
Mirage, Calif., on Monday, Nov. 13, 2006.

WHEN PINK FLOYD MEETS DRAG RACING

Normally the “Night of Fire” at
eMax Drag Racing Series events is closed with a fire works display. Not so in
Epping, as the IHRA has decided to try something new. A laser light show was
used as a preamble to Bob Motz’s jet truck and was greeted by a sound ovation
from the fans..

LITTON CONTINUES RECOVERY FROM EPPING ACCIDENT

Bruce Litton is still a patient at
Massachusetts General in Boston following his accident on Sunday. The Top Fuel
driver from Indianapolis underwent surgery on his shoulder Monday and is
expected to stay two more days as doctors ponder whether or not to perform a
skin graft on the gash to his right arm.

Litton is extremely sore but in good spirits despite a cracked
bone in his elbow and the effects of a concussion. He could be released as early
as Wednesday.

BACA'S '06 TRIBUTE TO 9/11 VICTIMS WILL CONCLUDE IN READING

Fulfilling a commitment he made in
mid-June, Mach 1 Air Services Top Fuel driver David Baca will honor the victims
of 9/11 with two very special helmet presentations Sunday morning at Maple Grove
Raceway.
