THREE SHADES OF GRAY RACING U.S. NATIONALS PRO STOCK

There will be plenty of Gray to be found at the upcoming NHRA U.S. Nationals outside of Indianapolis over the Labor Day weekend.

For the first time since the family entered drag racing competition, three generations of the Gray family will compete at the same national event.

Team owner and multi-class champion Johnny Gray will join his son Shane and Grandson Tanner in battling for the Pro Stock crown at the most prestigious event in NHRA competition.

Adding the sentimental theme, all three cars which are sponsored by Valvoline, will run company logos from the year they were born.

Valvoline has a long and storied history in racing including NHRA with many great teams and drivers,” Vice-President of marketing & customer experience for Valvoline Inc. Jamal Muashsher said. “Valvoline is proud to add to this rich history by extending our partnership with the outstanding team at Gray Motorsports. We are excited to support the three generations competing on the track and off the track by helping capture this unique story to share with fans."

Johnny Gray will race his Chevrolet Camaro SS with a Valvoline logo from the 1950’s.

“Valvoline has been a great partner of Gray Motorsports,” Johnny said. “Our partnership with Valvoline has elevated our program and to be able to draw significance to the three generations competing against each other at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals is what Gray Motorsports is all about.”

Shane will race his Chevrolet Camaro SS with a Valvoline logo from the 1970’s.

“I’ve chosen to run a limited schedule this season,” 2017 Gainesville national event winner Shane Gray said. “Racing alongside my dad and Tanner at Indy with each of us carrying the Valvoline logos from different eras will be a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to it.”

And Tanner, Johnny’s grandson, will race his Chevrolet Camaro SS with a Valvoline logo from 2000.

“Getting the opportunity to race alongside my grandpa and dad at an event like the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals is pretty special,” the eighteen-year-old Gray said. “Having an opportunity to make more history by being the first three generations of one family to compete professionally in the same class makes this rookie season I am having even more awesome.”

Gray Motorsports will test August 28-29, 2017 at zMax Dragway in Concord, NC in preparation for the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals.
