The Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series is poised to return to Virginia Motorsports Park for the Kaeser Compressors Mid-Atlantic Showdown presented by Classic Graphix this weekend. With national records broken in the Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous and WS Construction Pro Boost categories, top racers like Jim Halsey and Derek Ward are gearing up for fierce competition.

“It’s always fun to welcome everyone to our home turf at Virginia Motorsports Park,” said Tyler Crossnoe, PDRA series director and VMP vice president. “VMP has been a staple on the PDRA tour since the very beginning of the series in 2014. Virginia fans know when the PDRA is coming to town, and they’re in for a show this weekend. The season opener in North Carolina was off the rails with excitement, and you do not want to miss the second edition of the PDRA this season.”

At the season opener, the Pro Nitrous class saw Brian Shrader emerge victorious in a field filled with mid-3.60-second contenders, challenging reigning champion Tommy Franklin. Meanwhile, Pro Boost remains an open field with multiple drivers aiming for supremacy. Notable contenders such as Todd Tutterow and Jason Harris promise thrilling showdowns at the upcoming event.

The Liberty’s Gears Extreme Pro Stock category witnessed Johnny Pluchino claim victory over seasoned competitors like Steven Boone, setting the stage for rivalries at the Mid-Atlantic Showdown. Fresh faces in PDRA Pro 632, exemplified by rookies Andy House and Carson Perry's showdown, bring new energy to the competition, adding depth to the already stacked field.

Menscer Motorsports Pro Street reigning champion Scott Kincaid aims to continue his winning streak in the face of tough challengers like Tim Essick and Bill Riddle. Additionally, the Afco Racing Super Street class, led by defending champion Blake Denton, features a mix of experienced contenders and rising stars poised to make their mark at the event.

Local and touring sportsman racers will add their flair to the mix in categories like MagnaFuel Elite Top Sportsman, Laris Motorsports Insurance Elite Top Dragster, and Edelbrock Bracket Bash. Future PDRA stars will showcase their talents in the Coolshirt Systems Pro Jr. Dragster and Classic Graphix Top Jr. Dragster divisions, highlighting the diversity and depth of talent in the series.
