MARYLAND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY SEEKING TRACK MANAGER

 

Maryland International Raceway (MIR) is looking for a motivated individual to join their team as Track Manager. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing racing operations, directing events, handling track preparation, managing staff, coordinating event checklists, and organizing track rentals.

The position reports directly to Royce Miller, the owner of Maryland International Raceway.

Qualifications:
* The ideal candidate should have experience in drag racing, either as part of a race team or through work at a track or racing series.
Seeking an upbeat individual with excellent people skills and a strong character.

* The Track Manager must possess a good work ethic, be resourceful, organized, and a fast learner. Problem-solving skills and self-motivation are essential.

* The candidate should be able to meet the physical demands of an event from start to completion and ideally reside within a reasonable proximity of MIR or be willing to relocate.

* A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and successful completion of a background check are required.

* A high school diploma or GED is necessary.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, basic computer knowledge, and writing skills are required.

* General mechanical knowledge, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, is preferred.

* Long-term commitment to employment at MIR is desired.

* Experience with timing systems, electrical wiring, and track preparation is a plus, but not required. Training will be provided if needed.

 



Duties:

* The Track Manager will be responsible for hiring, scheduling, and training approximately 50 part-time staff members.

* Scheduling of other contracted staff departments will be part of the role.

* Collaboration with other full-time staff on event checklists.

* Overseeing track preparation at the facility and training staff in this area.

* Booking, organizing, and preparing the track for weekday track rentals.

* Handling orders for consumables, trophies, track supplies, and other necessary items.

* Assisting with social media endeavors.

* Ensuring the facility is ready for gates to open on race days by arriving early.

* Overseeing track closing procedures each night.

 

 



Schedule:

* This is a full-time year-round position.

* During the race season (March to November), the schedule is 6 days a week, with some weekends off.

* In the off-season (December to February), the schedule is 5 days a week, with weekends off.

Compensation:

* The salary for this position is in the range of $60,000 - $90,000 per year, or more, based on experience and the ability to take on many of Royce's day-to-day duties.
