FERRE TO DRIVE HERTZIG/AKERS AA/FC IN 2024

Past Top Fuel driver Cameron Ferre has been named as the new driver for  Hertzig/Akers Motorsports, piloting the “Johnnys On Thin Ice” AA/FC in both the 2024 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage and Legends of Nitro Racing Series.

“This is going to be awesome,” Ferre said. “Rick has been trying to get me behind the wheel of one of his cars for years, and it just hasn’t worked out logistically until now, and I think it’s perfect timing. I feel this will be a great move for me to get back into a race-winning-caliber car and run for a championship.

“Not to mention, keep me out on track while I work on getting back to top fuel. This will, for sure, keep my finger on the nitro pulse and allow me to stay as relevant as I can. And heck, who doesn’t love driving Funny Cars? I can’t thank Rick, John, and Roxie enough, and I’m ready to get to work.”

Ferre is expected to make his driving debut at the Good Vibrations March Meet and plans to participate in all Hot Rod Heritage and Legends of Nitro series events.

Ferre will be joined in the venture by Nostalgia Top Fuel racer Bryan Hall, allowing for additional resources and support for both cars.

Former AA/FC racer Wally Giavia, a veteran tuner, will serve as the crew chief for the team.

“I have been around Rick for years, and I am looking forward to being back racing with him and Cameron,” Giavia said. “I think we are assembling something great.”

The Hertzig/Akers Motorsports secured a monumental victory last season at the NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, CA., with Cory McClenathan behind the wheel.

Team owner Tom Akers expressed his passion for Nitro Funny Cars and desire to continue competing with Hertzig’s support.

“I love Nitro Funny Cars, plain and simple, and I want to keep doing this for as long as I can, and with the help of the Hertzig family, we are able to make this happen,” Akers said. “I’m excited all around. All the new things coming into 24’ is shaping it up to be a huge one. Wally as the tuner, Cam as the driver, and John and Roxie as partners is a recipe for success, plain and simple. I can’t wait to go testing.”
