EVEL KNIEVEL TRIBUTE A DREAM COME TRUE FOR PALMER

The 2019 NHRA Heartland Nationals will be a race to remember for Evel Knievel fan and Top Fuel Dragster pilot Scott Palmer. In collaboration with the Evel Knievel Museum and the Knievel family, Palmer will honor the late daredevil with an Evel-themed dragster, driving suit and helmet June 7-9 in Topeka, Kansas.

“I am so excited to run this Evel car and to have the support of the Knievel family. Mike Patterson from the Evel Knievel Museum has made it possible for me to do one of the coolest things I’ll ever do in my life,” said Palmer. “RJS Racing Equipment is making a custom red, white, and blue driving suit, and I will wear a custom Evel-themed helmet. After the race, my helmet and driving suit will be placed on display at the Evel Knievel Museum.”

Magic Dry teammate Rickie House will also debut Evel Knievel’s colors on his Top Fuel Harley at Heartland Motorsports Park.

Topeka is home to the Evel Knievel Museum, which is located next door to Historic Harley-Davidson and just up the road from Heartland Motorsports Park. Their extensive collection of memorabilia includes Evel’s “Big Red” Mack truck, original bikes and leathers, and his Skycycle X-2 steam-powered rocket.

“We’re so proud that Scott is partnering with the museum and flying the Evel colors in Topeka for the weekend,” said museum co-founder Mike Patterson. “It’s really cool and I think Evel would be really proud to have his stars and stripes running down the drag strip at 300 miles per hour.”

One of the highlights for Evel Knievel fans attending the NHRA Heartland Nationals will be the replica Skycycle X-2 on display at the Magic Dry Organic Absorbent midway trailer. While at the display, fans can also purchase commemorative one pound bags of Magic Dry featuring Evel Knievel.

The Evel Knievel Museum will be open 10am-6pm Tuesday-Friday, 9am-5pm Saturday, 12pm-5pm Sunday, and closed Monday. A special edition Scott Palmer Racing Evel Knievel t-shirt will be available at the museum during the race weekend, and online after the race.
