CRITCHLEY PLEADS OUT

Pro Modified drag racer Troy Critchley will accept a plea bargain that will keep him from serving jail time. Critchley faced multiple counts of of vehicular homicide and reckless aggravated assault for his role in last year's crash during a burnout exhibition in Selmer, Tenn., hosted by a charity function. Six people died and more than two dozen were hurt, many seriously.

Pro Modified drag racer Troy Critchley will accept a plea bargain that will keep him from serving jail time. Critchley faced multiple counts of of vehicular homicide and reckless aggravated assault for his role in last year's crash during a burnout exhibition in Selmer, Tenn., hosted by a charity function. Six people died and more than two dozen were hurt, many seriously.

According to a press release from the Tennessee state prosecutor, Critchley will plead guilty to 28 misdemeanors counts of reckless simple assault. All other felony charges have been dismissed.

District Attorney General Mike Dunavant issued a press release stating the plea agreement comes as a result of a written request to his office from the civil attorneys representing the victims who have filed civil suits related to the crash.

As part of the agreement, Critchley can no longer do any burnout exhibitions unless they are on a drag strip. His passport will likewise be returned allowing him to travel abroad.

Critchley can also return to competitive drag racing as a result of this plea agreement.
